Green Initiative

At Grand Oaks, we have made a commitment to be as environmentally conscious as possible while still providing our clients with the amenities they want and need.

ABOUT OUR BUILDING:
Our building is new and well insulated; constructed using recycled steel beams; carpet is made using recycled fibers; windows are insulated & tinted to reduce heat transmission & curtains on south facing windows are all insulated as well. The building has multiple zoned & programmable thermostats to reduce energy usage; lights are energy efficient and most are on motion sensors/timers; much of our ballroom lighting is energy saving LED; and our all of our kitchen appliances, office equipment, & toilets are new and energy efficient models.

ABOUT OUR IN-HOUSE PROGRAMS & POLICIES:
We have an in-house waste recycling program for glass bottles (esp. beer & wine), cardboard, and aluminum cans.
We use primarily green chemicals for cleaning.
We reduce energy consumption for hot water by using an on-demand only hot water recycling system.
We only offer bottled water upon request, but instead offer water in self-serve beverage dispensers or pitchers, therefore cutting down on plastic bottle waste.
Most of our correspondence & marketing is via the internet (email, newsletters, social media) cutting down on paper usage. All invoices are sent electronically.
We buy green/recycled office & paper products when possible.

Our table linens are reusable, reducing landfill waste. According to the linen company’s website, they “provide a reusable product in order to be environmentally friendly in order to keep our environment safe for future generations. The suppliers (for our linen) continue to offer new and efficient ideas that help reduce the amount of waste and energy needed to operate their processing facility.”
